July Wedding Wednesday // Haley + Derek

While the Northland has been experiencing a major heat wave we are gonna take some time to think of cooler times. For this blog we are so inspired by a lovely winter wedding that took place pre-quarantine. 

Haley and Derek were married on a gorgeous winter day in Two Harbors, Minnesota at Grand Superior Lodge. This couple’s stunning design plan consisted of textured foliage and long lasting winter greens. These ingredients included evergreen varieties, thistle, succulents, dusty miller, and frosted pinecones. 

This outdoor winter ceremony had a striking evergreen garland hung from the venue’s arch. This garland had accents of succulents, thistle, and pinecones added on site.

Each lovely bridesmaid had neutral and organic style dresses with extra layers for the chilly ceremony. This couple still brought love and warmth to a woodsy winter wedding. Our staff could not be more obsessed with how their wedding turned out.

Meet the Pandemic Staff

Hello Northland! So much in this world has changed these past couple months with this COVID-19 pandemic, and we are so grateful for all of your continued support. With that being said, we are so excited to announce that during these uncertain times we are starting up our blog again!  We will be highlighting everything from past weddings to floral care, and from staff favorites to plant care.  To kick start our blog, we wanted to introduce the Saffron and Grey team that has been working behind the scenes to bring you new and exciting treasures.

• Hello! I am currently attending the University of Minnesota Duluth and studying graphic design. I love nature, creating art, and eating with friends. I hope to work as a wedding planner so I can stay in this industry I now love and continue to use my design skills.

• Saffron and Grey // I have been working at Saffron and Grey for almost 2 years. I have had a variety of responsibilities since starting here, but lately I have had a focus on updating the merchandise on our website. I love working here because it has grown my plant collection so much and I love seeing what we make be a part of our customers’ important memories. I also love the atmosphere my coworkers bring to work and I look forward to walking in the door every day.

• Hello! I just graduated from UMD with a Bachelor of Science in biology and a chemistry minor.  I am currently working towards becoming a Peace Corps Volunteer and in the future, I would like to go back to school and focus on marine biology.

• Saffron and Grey // I have been working at S&G for a little over one year and work mostly in the storefront.  I love working here because I love seeing all the flowers and plants in the shop and getting a little bit of aromatherapy every time I come to work.  I also love spending time with my coworkers.

• I am currently going to school at LSC and am studying business. I want to do a year or two of traveling before I get an adult job :).  I also would love to own my own flower shop in the future.

• Favorite Plant // Baby Toes succulent or a split rock succulent 

• Favorite Greenery // Pennycress or blue thistle 

• What is your favorite food? // Crisp and green salads 

• Hobbies // Traveling, hiking, shopping, eating

• Saffron and Grey // I have been working at S&G for almost 2 years. I am mainly involved with wedding plans and office activities. My favorite thing about working here is, being around all of the flowers//plants every day. I also love seeing all of the creative//different designs the designers come up with.
